“Weekends Begin on Thursday Nights”
Announces Special Event Eves in Nov. and Dec.

(Medina, Ohio- October 28, 2008) – A new approach is being taken to make it easier for Medina residents to support the locally owned and operated stores and restaurants in the historic district with “Weekends Begin on Thursday Nights”. Seventeen shops and galleries that are members of Main Street are staying open until 8:00pm every Thursday night.

One night per month, the merchants will feature a special evening with events, promotions, or fun activities for shoppers. On November 13th and 20th, each participating merchant will collect new toys for area children in need. “We’re partnering with the Medina Salvation Army,” stated Pam Miller, owner of Gramercy Gallery. “We know that money is tight for everyone right now, and the holidays are always a time of extra need. By working with the Medina Salvation Army, we can help assist families in need to make their holiday a little extra special.”

Throughout the month of December, the merchant members will feature “The Twelve Days of Christmas” icon hunt. Shoppers may visit every store, find the hidden holiday decoration, and be eligible to win a special prize.

“It’s an exciting time to explore and shop the historic district,” stated Matt Wiederhold, executive director of Main Street Medina. “The stores and galleries have such an amazing diversity of products for the holidays, from hand-crafted ornaments to amazing greeting cards, fun antiques and collectibles, beautiful works of art and elegant gem-encrusted dog collars, to designer furniture and holiday Army wear! Really, why would anyone want to go to a shopping mall when it’s so much more interesting to support our local, independent merchants and restaurants?”
