This weekend is the incredible, 27th annual, 2021 Medina Ice Festival, produced by Elegant Ice Creations, supported by The City of Medina, with title sponsor Serpentini Chevrolet Medina , and major sponsorship from P.J. Marley's and Main Street Medina.
Due to Covid-29 restrictions, the event will look a little different this year, mainly that there will not be any carving contests, no demonstrations, and no fire & ice tower. That being said, there WILL be over 100 works of carved ice art on view, some created by Aaron Costic, an Olympic Gold Medalist in ice carving, and founder of Elegant Ice Creations. The carvings will range from 300 pound, single block carvings to displays of 10+ blocks of ice, weighing several thousand pounds. Each carving has been sponsored and paid for by a local business for your enjoyment, and to promote their business.
The carvings will be set up by 3pm on Friday, February 19th, and will remain on display at least through Monday, February 22nd (no worrying about any melting this year!). You may visit the event at any time, day or night, for a unique experience. During the day, it's an icy wonderland. By night, the sculptures are highlighted with LED color-changing spotlights, and it's a whole different experience.
While in town, please visit the sponsoring businesses in and around the District. Shop at a new place, explore a new store, or try a new restaurant. Mask up, watch your distancing, and take an adventure through Medina.
The event is free to attend, and there are over 1,200 free public parking spaces within a block or two of the district.
