TOWN HALL & ENGINE HOUSE MUSEUM
This iconic building was constructed in 1878 after the village had suffered three major fires in thirty years. In 1968, it was the first building addressed in Medina’s historic restoration. A true town hall, it served as a home for local government and the police department and was Medina’s only fire station until the 1990’s. In the early 1990’s, the city built three new fire stations and the fire department ceased using this facility. The Medina City Archive Commission began museum planning in 1997. In 2005, City Council passed a resolution supporting the creation of a museum of local history. Grant funding was secured to renovate the engine bay into museum space. Historic photo images were donated by the Community Design Committee (CDC), the Medina County Historical Society and local families. Artifacts unique to Medina were collected and donated and funding secured to create the museum. The free community museum opened in 2013 and has welcomed 42,000 visitors to date. The second floor is a public meeting room which can be reserved through the Mayor’s office.
