MSM 2025 Scholarship Program
Applications for the 2025 Cool Beans Cafe’ Emerging Entrepreneur Scholarship Now Accepted
Main Street Medina is excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2025 Cool Beans Cafe’ Emerging Entrepreneur Scholarship. Established in 2024 by local entrepreneur and Cool Beans Café owner Laura Cavey, this scholarship supports aspiring entrepreneurs by awarding multiple scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 to high school and college students in Medina County.
Additionally, Medina High School’s Class of 1970 will sponsor scholarships for Medina High School and Medina County Career Center students planning to launch entrepreneurial ventures. Awarded funds may be used to cover tuition and fees or to invest directly in a student-run business.
“We are thrilled to provide this opportunity for young entrepreneurs in our community,” said Main Street Medina board chair Brad Root. “This scholarship is a fantastic way to support students passionate about business and innovation, whether they are just starting their journey in school or already running their own business.”

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident.
- Be a high school senior or a full-time college student at an accredited U.S. vocational, junior college, or four-year institution.
- Demonstrate leadership through community service, extracurricular activities, or other experiences.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Not be an immediate family member of the selection board, Main Street Medina, or committee members.
Application Tracks
Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Option 1: Be enrolled in a business or entrepreneurship-related program at a college, university, or technical school.
- Option 2: Provide a business plan and/or a link to an existing business website and social media accounts.
- Option 3: Own and operate a small business.
Selection Process
Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on the following:
- Quality of essay submission (maximum 250 words).
- Potential economic impact of the applicant’s business.
- Leadership and community service experience.
- Academic standing.
- One letter of recommendation from school or community leaders.
- A phone or in-person interview with the scholarship selection committee.
